Sometimes a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal can highlight the need for more specialist and focused botanical surveys.

• Phase 2 National Vegetation Classification (NVC) surveys;
• hedgerow surveys;
• river corridor and river habitat surveys;
• rare plant and lower plant surveys, including bryophytes; and
• identification and mapping of invasive plant species, including Japanese knotweed and other Schedule 9 species.
