What is involved with a bat survey?
An initial Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) of a building (structure) or tree can be undertaken at any time of year. It may be possible to rule out the potential presence of a bat roost at this stage.
If evidence of a bat roost, or potential for a roost to be present is identified, then Phase 2 bat surveys may be needed. These can include static nocturnal surveys between May - September (April to October for transect surveys) or December to February for hibernation surveys.
Once the surveys are complete our ecologists will be able to provide you with a detailed report outlining the survey results and any identified impacts, with recommendations for mitigation, if necessary.
Our bat survey page provides more detailed information regarding what is involved in carrying out a bat survey.
